Thornbury players recognised at Gloucestershire County Age-group awards!

On Tuesday evening (October 4th 2022), some of the best young cricketers in Gloucestershire gathered at the Seat Unique Stadium (Gloucestershire County Ground) for the County age-group awards, to recognise the efforts of hundreds of players from the 2022 summer season.

Lots of our youth players at Thornbury are a part of county age-group/development squads, however two players in particular were awarded on this night.

Prarthana Reddy, who is one of our outstanding young girls, represented Thornbury youth & adult teams this season and played as high as our 3rd XI this season. A picture of Prarthana and father Sunil went viral earlier this season, which captured the moment before they headed out to bat as our first ever father-daughter opening pair!

On Tuesday night, Prarthana collected the awards for the U15 Girls player of the year & Girls overall player of the season, which is an outstanding achievement.

Her bowling figures include 4-15 v Middlesex and 3-31 v Devon. Her batting highlights are: 108 off 138, 99 off 93, 69 off 71 and 54 off 60! Prarthana was also picked for the Gloucestershire U18 girls team, which shows what a fantastic talent she is.

Anir Sanat was another award winner on the night from a Thornbury perspective. Ani had an excellent season this year for both the Thornbury youth and adult teams. Despite only being an U15, he finished the season in the 1st XI, playing WEPL Division 1 cricket, and picked up some huge wickets in big games this season, including the wickets of Gloucestershire county professionals!

Ani was awarded the U15 Boys performance of the year, for his display against Somerset in August. Ani took 7 wickets in the match, including 5-31 in the first innings, and picked up some runs with the bat against Gloucestershire's local rivals!

Congratulations to Prarthana and Ani on their awards and we're very excited to see what the future holds for them both!
