Our committee is forever striving to improve Thornbury Cricket Club. All club officers have specific areas that they work on and meet monthly to assess the progress of the club.
Meet The Committee
Toby has been a part of Thornbury throughout his whole life, fulfilling a variety of roles before becoming chairman at the 2020 AGM. Toby ensures the whole club runs smoothly throughout the year. As the club continues to expand, Tobe ensures the club stays on track.
After a long and successful period as a player for TCC, Pritch has filled a variety of committee roles, before being appointed as Vice Chair at the 2021 AGM. Pritch supports Toby and the rest of the committee in ensuring the club moves in the right direction.
'Les the Pres' is Mr Thornbury Cricket Club. If you have got any questions on the history of Thornbury Cricket Club then Les will have the answer. As recreational cricket moves forward in this modern world, Les ensures our history is not forgotten when key decisions are made.
As is the way in local sport, volunteers are tasked with fulfilling a variety of roles. Weeksy is a mainstay of the Men's 2nd XI, whilst maintaining the grounds at our second home at Tockington Manor School and through his role as Treasurer, he ensures all our finances are in check.
Jo initially got involved with Thornbury through her son, Toby. However, since the emergence of the Women's section, Jo has played an integral part both on and off the pitch. Now she sits on the committee as secretary, where her work covers all aspects of the club. Jo was appointed at the AGM in 2021.
If you've ever been to visit the Ship Field for whatever reason, the chances are you would have spotted Oakes out in the middle, no doubt preparing a pitch for one of our many matches. He has served as ground chair for over 20 seasons now and the club would not function without his work.
Not many put in the hours like Alex does in his role as Bar Chairman. Like most clubs, we rely heavily on our bar takings as a primary source of income. As such, Gwinners puts in a lot of work to try and maximise our bar takings so that the rest of the club can grow.
Men's Cricket Chairman
Simon became Men's Cricket Chair in 2020, where he is responsible for the running of our Men's section. We currently have five Saturday teams, midweek and Sunday sides and Tredders ensures that we continue to grow. On top of his role, he continues to play on a Saturday for the 2's/3's, as an 'uncompromising' opener.
Women's Cricket Chair
A new role ahead of 2022, TK is our first ever Women's Cricket Chair. As our Women's section continues to grow, we felt it was a necesity to have a Women's cricket representitive on the committee. TK works with Tredders and Mike to ensure our cricket vision is implemented across the club.
Youth Cricket Chairman
Mike was appointed as Youth Chair at the 2021 AGM, taking on one of the most full-on roles at TCC. We have over 20 teams across both boys and girls cricket and Mike oversees this operation. We pride ourselves on our youth section and Mike helps to bridge the gap between youth and senior cricket.
Dave joined the committee in 2021 and as house chairman, he is responsible for all developments that take place to our facilities. Additionally, Birdie plays a vital role in ensuring the TCC Cafe works in conjunction with the rest of the club.
Fixtures Coordinator & Safeguarding Officer
John took on the role of Fixtures Coordinator ahead of the 2022 season, to manage all fixtures that take place across the Ship Field and Tockington Manor School. As our club grows, so does the requirement for additional helpers who are required to obtain a DBS. Along with Sarah Bowden, John ensures those DBS checks are carried out thoroughly.
Like John Wormwell, Sarah ensures that as our Youth section continues to expand, all of our fantastic volunteer coaches have the necessary DBS checks to fulfill their roles. Sarah also manages the distribution of much of our playing kits.
Harry initially joined Thornbury as 1st XI scorer in 2015, before taking on media responsibilities which became a committee role in 2020. Harry oversees all social media coverage for the club and works with the local media to get the news of Thornbury Cricket Club to a wider audience.
