View from the bar

April and May saw some crappy weather and not a lot of cricket being played, the view from inside the bar was somewhat rosier we had the opportunity to fix a few things and got a 5 rating from Environmental Health for our facilities! With the weather warming now and much more cricket being played by our men, women girls and boys the bar takings are steadily rising, and boy are those takings going to be needed in the autumn.

You will have seen how we have attracted significant s.106 funding for a new outfield mower and an extension to the club to accommodate additional storage areas at the rear and new changing facilities to compliment those which we already have, and enabling games to be played back to back. This comes at a cost, the cost being that we will need to put a significant sum into the project from the club as well. In order to satisfy this we have developed several ways in which our members/sponsors and other local concerns can help. From game sponsorship to outfield banner ads, tables at Lashings to barrel sponsorship at the event.

At Lashings there will be several items which are available to bid on and boy they are some great items – please click on the link to get to take a look and get ready to bid on items. It all goes towards helping your club to reach its goals. https://www.thornburycc.com/post/lashings-auction-prizes

To this end we also have had much assistance from other groups who have helped by using our venue to stage their events, Alveston Community Events brought us the Coronation, Thornbury Town FC brought up their junior presentation day and we would like to thank these groups for their continuing support. We look forward to the next Alveston Community events on the day following Lashings (7th July), when the Craft Fayre and the village Barn Dance take centre stage, you may get your tickets directly from Hayley or at the bar in TCC if you see me. Tickets for the Barn dance are £10 (but this includes a bar credit of £10 so effectively free) this event is open to anyone so don’t be afraid to ask to come in and join the fun, personally I’ll be putting my best foot forward with a check shirt and hat and who knows what else I might find lurking in the back of the wardrobe!!

Speaking of Lashings there have been a few who have asked about the order and timings for the day itself, and although this is not the official programme it goes like this

10.30am Players arrive and then shortly after this youth training with Lashings

7.15pm Match presentations

7.30pm Chris Auburn performs

9.15pm Goodnight Lois performs

11pm Music stops

On the Saturday and utilising the Marquee, the Craft Fayre will be on whilst the 2’s take on Cam, this will run most of the afternoon, whist Alveston Community Events will be making teas, coffees and Cream Teas available. The barn darn will commence at approximately 7.30pm. As previously mentioned don’t be shy in getting a ticket see me or on of the ACE crew and come along, I know I could do with the exercise.

I will be needing some help prior to lashings and it may be at short notice don’t be frightened to volunteer if I need help without help from volunteers it becomes difficult to achieve all that we want to for our great club.
